SUMMER CAMP
Each summer, the performing choirs and training choir come together for one week of intense music study and loads of fun, which is held at Camp Loughridge in Tulsa. The week typically begins prior to the upcoming fall semester. The boys learn new music, enhance choral music skills and participate in a leadership program that is based on success in these areas.
The performing choirs stay overnight at the camp from Monday morning through Friday evening. The training choir (boychoir) are daycampers only from 9:00 - 5:00. The boys' and staff's hard work culminates on Friday night when a concert is held at the camp chapel for parents, friends and family members.
In addition to exceptional music training, the boys participate in swimming, hiking, fishing, board game competition, ping pong, basketball and of course eat the scrumptious "soul food" that is prepared by the parents on site. Parental home cooked meals keeps camp cost to a minimum and allows the parents to befriend other parents and boys. This strengthens relationships within the choir and builds teamwork among staff, the boys and their families.
TBS summer camp is the best deal in town. The total cost of the camp is $115.00. This pays for everything!! That includes three meals a day with two snack periods, the best youth choral music training in the state of Oklahoma, extracurricular activities and overnight accommodations. The camp staff includes the music director, two assistant directors and four camp counselors who are professional, loving and provide a very safe environment for the boys. Parents also participate in supervising some of the extracurricular activities if needed.
